Steven Kimber
Steven is living in UK and had a life long love affair with music, singing and song creation and was heavily influenced by the heady synth sounds of the 80’s. He actually released his first track at the age of 16 in the UK, after winning a singing competition judged by Noddy Holder from Slade.
During the 90's, he teamed up with the charismatic DJ & producer Steven Bolton. They released a string of successful singles as Sotto Voce - ‘Dreams (One Night)’, ‘Higher And Higher’, ‘Happy People’, ‘Big Piano’ and ‘Rome’ all of which received extensive radio play across Canada and high positions in most dance and club charts.
As "Sotto Voce", Steven appeared on many Radio & TV shows performing live at clubs throughout Toronto during the 90’s. There were also stadium appearances at Italo Fest summer festivals, Summer Rush at Kingswood Music Theatre and Powerjam at the Molson Amphitheatre. He performed alongside La Bouche, C&C Music Factory, 2 Unlimited, Black Box, The Mighty Dub Kats, B.G. The Prince of Rap, , Dr Alban, Lil Suzie, Robin S, Clock, Real Mcoy, Jocelyn Enriquez, Reel 2 Reel, Elissa, Emjay and many others.
In 2013, Steven teamed up with the spacesynth & italo music producer, Razvan Dumitru Voicu aka Vanello for the first time on the track "SOS For Love", released through ZYX Music & charting in Canada’s Eurodance Hits chart, Will Reid’s Club 80's New Generation Italo chart at No. 5 & reached No.1 in RM80's New Generation Italo Disco chart. This was followed by the passionate ‘Your Eyes Don’t Lie’.
In 2014, Moderno together with Vanello produced the emotive soaring "My Angel" which reached No.1 in the RMI chart & No.6 in the the Club80’s chart and has since become a Youtube fan favourite.
"S.O.S For Love", "My Angel" and 'Your Eyes Don't Lie" became part of Vanello's 2015 album ,"Essential".
The hot Italo burner "The King of the Summer" with Vanello was also released by ZYX Music in 2016 and reached No.2 in the RMI chart.
Steven & Vanello then recorded the retro pop 80’s influenced ’Digital Love' released by ZYX Music in 2017 this time with remixes from Matt Pop (Hazell Dean, Peter Wilson, Erasure, Nicki French) & Kiss The Panther. The neon 80’s styled video featured Vanello & Steven in electric dreams together with 2 androids finding love through music. "Digital Love" reached No.1 in the RMI chart & number No.3 in the Music Reloaded Dance Chart.
In 2019, another single with Vanello, the hypnotic uplifting "Spark" climbed into the RMI chart and was included on ZYX Italo Disco New Generation Vol.15 with a brand new Moderno remix in the pipeline. The same year, Moderno worked with Vanellomusic for releasing a tropical house version of the famous 90's hit, "Sweet Harmony" from The Beloved.
